Teaser: New Crop Top Design & Dyeing Process

I've said before that my next post would be about the crop top. I did dye it, a solid color. I like the way it came out. It was my first time dyeing anything & I learned I can do more than one at once. I'm not too thrilled about the vinyl print. I'll talk about it at the end of the post.

This is the crop top. I use this brand. They don't make them in too many colors, so I had to dye it to get the color I wanted.

The dyeing was easy & I liked it. I was on my laptop while I was doing it all, so yeah.

Okay, so you see the finished shirt here. Under the first two shirts are another shirt that's paler than the others. The water was still steaming but not hot, so I thought, 'maybe I can still use this?' I don't know why I thought that. That was not a good idea. I'm still going to use those paler ones for something...

Swanky: adjective

/ˈswaNGkē/

"Stylishly luxurious and expensive."

I picked 'swanky' because I like it. I didn't know the definition until I Googled it. I read that & it was like, "This is good!" I love the design because it's literally so simple & just about the colors. A lot of the crop tops I've designed was very simple because simple design is the best type of design. You want to make something that's easy to digest visually when you're making such things. If you choose to make certain things deeper, you can, but you want to make sure people like it & if you choose to dig for that deeper, it's worth it. Like, a graphic designer may be able to see more in my designs than a consumer. They'll have the eyes to see if something is centered visually or metrically.

The vinyl though. I don't like it as much as I thought I would. Maybe I should go with the screen printing on this one. I think screen printing is the way because DTG would be a waste. I also want the print bigger. When I went to get it done, the guy asked me if I wanted him to stretch it. I said no because I made the design for the shirt, but I think it was different on his side of things. I understand why he asked.
